Contacts app shows mutiple entries for the same contact
- /e/ version: 0.7-2020010636667
- Device model: SM-G935F
- When it started to occur: at least 6 months
- Reproducible with the last /e/ version: yes
- Reproducible with LineageOS: don't know
Summary
Using the default Contacts /e/ app on my refurbished Samsung S7 edge. Serching for contact names sometimes shows duplicate or multiple entries for the same contact. Some of them can be manually hidden since they refer to Telegram or Whatsapp aliases. Please not that I configured Contacts so that only contacts in the /e/ address book are shown (no Telegram, Whatsapp or other). To double check if the issue is related to the address book rather than the Contacts app I installed "Simple Contacts" and no duplicate/multiple entries appear there, so I suppose the problem is related to the default Contacts app. It occurred to me that deleting a duplicate entry permanently removed the contact from my address book. Note that I previously checked for duplicates on my address book.
