Due to contributions mainly by Danny Wood (aka danwood76, the (former?) LineageOS a3/5xelte device maintainer) the affected LineageOS repositories contain a complete V18.1 device tree for the a3/5/7xelte devices nearly since the release of LineageOS 18.1 (though these devices had never been officially supported in V18.1).
IMHO there is – now that the LineageOS team had ceased support for its 17.1 version – no longer any (good) reason not to support these devices also in the R-variant of /e/-OS (beside their support in Q).
I just tried to build /e/-OS v1.0-alpha.2-r for my a3xelte without any additional (local) manifests (using the released community docker image): The build succeeded without any hassle; and as far as I tested the produced image, it performed at least as functional and stable as the Q variant. (And BTW: Due to some “good vibrations” the #2840-issue (“Error message after clean Q install”) did not occur at startup)
So why not let the a3/5/7xelte users from now on choose between the Q and R versions of /e/!?
